The 14u Rep Tier 2 Washington Wild team of the Western Washington Female Hockey Association (WWFHA) takes home the gold medal in the championship title game in the Surrey SuperHearts Tournament on Sunday.
The Washington Wild 14u Rep girls’ ice hockey team is made up female players from Western Washington and practices out of the Highland Ice Arena in Shoreline.
The team played in the Surrey SuperHearts Tournament over the weekend against several teams from British Columbia. The Wild earned a 3-1 record in round-robin play of the tournament, losing to Surrey 2-1 in the first game, and then defeating Kelowna 4-2, North Shore 12-1, and Alaska 4-3.
The Wild met the host team, the Surrey Falcons, in the championship game on Sunday, which ended in a 3-3 tie after regulation time. A 5 minute over-time was played, however, neither team scored. The Wild ended the game in a shootout in the fifth round on a goal by forward Kutes Kutes of Kirkland, and the stingy goaltending by Olivia Colgan of Maple Valley.
Western Washington Female Hockey Association (WWFHA) – Washington Wild - is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), volunteer-run association dedicated to promoting girls’ ice hockey and developing female players in the US Pacific Northwest. WWFHA is the only all-girl association in the area and has both competitive and recreational teams at all ages, and the only all-girl beginner program in the state. More information here.
