Neil Simon’s 30th play, Proposals is a romantic comedy-drama set in the Pocono Mountains. Housekeeper Clemma tells the story through her memory of one idyllic afternoon in the summer of 1953. She is looking back on the events when nine people converged on this tranquil country home and not so tranquilly sorted out their tangled lives and loves.
Director Paul Fouhy says of Proposals, “This will be a delightful evening that will fill your lives with joy and a hopeful look at love, happiness, and ourselves, as seen through the lens of a bygone era.”
Proposals features the talents of Nicholas Horiatis, Jana Gueck, and Cynthia King. When asked how it’s been working with the cast, Fouhy said “I know I have the most amazing cast I have ever worked with on a show. They are bright, insightful and amazing people.”
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon has received more combined Oscar and Tony nominations than any other writer. Born in New York, where most of his plays are set, Simon began writing for television in the 1950’s, and shortly thereafter, for the stage. His semi-autobiographical works usually revolve around marriage and family, and capture the humor that often accompanies the sadness of life.

Of Proposals, Simon has said, "I didn't want it to be an out-and-out comedy or an out-and-out drama.”
Simon has written more than 30 plays in his career and has been honored with Tony awards for Biloxi Blues, Lost in Yonkers, and The Odd Couple.
