According to a story Tuesday in The Seattle Times, Albertsons is bidding to buy 36 stores that Haggens recently acquired and is now selling.

Haggens acquired the stores when Albertson and Safeway merged and were forced to divest themselves of several hundred stores nationwide in an anti-monopoly ruling by the Federal Trade Commission. This included the Albertsons in Lake Forest Park and the Shoreline Safeway at 155th and Aurora.

Haggens has kept the Lake Forest Park location but is closing and selling the Shoreline location.

Now Albertsons is bidding for the Shoreline store - not be be confused with the Haggens (formerly TOP Foods) on 175th that closed in July 2013, which is going to be multiple stores, including Trader Joe's.
