The Shorewood High School Math Team brought home some impressive hardware from the Math Is Cool competition that was held at Redmond High School on October 17. In the 9-10 grade team division, Shorewood won first place—outscoring the next closest team by 16 points.
The Shorewood Math Team is comprised of about 30 students and their advisor, Corrie Crowder. They compete in about eight competitions per year, where they often break into teams of three to compete in various divisions and types of math.
“I feel honored to work with these amazing future leaders of America,” said Crowder. “Last year we were 2nd place in our division at Math is Cool and this year we improved to 1st place.”
The team’s next challenge will be the statewide Math is Cool Masters in December at Moses Lake High School.
