Shorewood Senior captain Kyle Berquist led the T-Birds to a key 4-3 victory over league rival Edmonds- Woodway.
Berquist won a close two set singles match 6-4, 6-4 to help edge the Warriors. The final match of the afternoon came down to number three doubles with both teams tied at three wins each. T-Birds senior Cameron Harford and junior Jack Stensrud won a hard fought doubles match in the third set 6-3 to clinch the team win. Stensrud and Harford played aggressive under lots of pressure, on big points, that helped them control their opponents.
The win improved the Thunderbirds first place record in WesCo South 3A to 9-1 and 12-1 overall. They meet crosstown rival Shorecrest at Kellogg tennis courts Tuesday 10/13 at 3:30pm. They finish their season league schedule at Mountlake Terrace at 3:30pm on Wednesday 10/14.
