I have lived in the same house in Shoreline since 1983. In 1972, I joined the Seattle Fire Department from which I retired in 1999 after 27 years of service, working the majority of my time in the University District. Upon retirement, I became a school-bus driver for the Shoreline School District in addition to teaching the fire safety program at Shorewood High School from 2008-2012. I still drive the school bus today because it provides me with great satisfaction and allows me to stay connected to my community.

Staying connected and giving back to Shoreline, which has given so much to my family, and me is one of the main reasons I would like to serve on the Shoreline Fire Department’s Board of Commissioners. My emergency management experience, combined with my investment in and dedication to Shoreline, makes me very well qualified to serve as Fire Commissioner.

Among my many interests are watching sports and volunteer coaching for Richmond Junior Football and Little League. I also love spending time with my family, which includes my wife, Maureen Setterberg, a special education teacher at Shorewood High School, and our two sons, Seth and Nick, now both officers in the U.S. Air Force.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve and give back to my community.
