Duwamish Dynamics is the topic at the Lake Forest Park Library on Saturday, October 3, from 3-4pm in the Library Meeting Room, lower level Town Center, intersection of Bothell and Ballinger Way, Lake Forest Park.
Dr. Ken Tollefson and Dr. Jay Miller will present their extensive work with the Duwamish people and their understanding of the challenges of federal tribal recognition as it relates to the Duwamish.
Dr. Tollefson, Seattle Pacific University Professor Emeritus of Anthropology, has devoted four decades of his life to documenting the history and living culture of the Duwamish people. He is the author of Tribal Trio of the Northwest Coast.
Dr. Miller specializes in linguistics and coastal Salish people, and he is the author of Rescues, Rants, and Researches: A Review of Jay Miller's Writings on Northwest Indian Cultures.
Book sales and signing will follow the program. Co-sponsored by the Shoreline Historical Museum.
