You never know what you will find in the woods Bastyr Haunted Trails |
Bastyr University’s annual “Haunted Trails” event returns for another year of spooky fun! Hosted rain or shine, the 17th annual event takes place in the forest behind Bastyr University’s Kenmore campus for two consecutive Fridays and Saturdays in October (16-17 and 23-24).
Bastyr University is located at 14500 Juanita Dr NE, Kenmore, WA 98028. Map and directions here.
As one of the Eastside’s longest-running and biggest fright fests, the event has activities for teens and adults in the spooky Haunted Trail, while kids 8 and younger can trick-or-treat and play games in the Carnival. It’s all for a good cause with proceeds benefitting student study-abroad programs, including the Department of Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine’s annual trip to China.
EVENTS FOR AGES 8 AND OLDER
- Haunted Woods: Tour scenes inspired by some of our favorite horror films at every twist and turn of the path. Try not to Scream as scenes from The Ring and Sinister are reimagined in the woods! Ghostly entities haunt the trees and spiders think you look like tasty hobbit-sized morsels!
- Hades Labyrinth: Terror haunts the students that have taken to the hostel for their summer vacation! Classical horrors from the forces of darkness and space expeditions on distant planets are sure to keep you on your toes!
- Cemetery Hill: Hungry? There’s a Texas-style BBQ happening. Just ignore the sounds of the chainsaw … if you can!
- Circus of Horrors: Clowns. Lots of clowns, under a big top. Is that laughter or screams?
- Mummy’s Tomb: Mummies are cool. Except when they arise and want to bring you back to the sarcophagus.
*Please note: We do not allow children under 8 into these events and we strongly recommend that children under 10 do not attend. This event can be traumatizing to younger ones, which is NOT our intent. We only want to give the adults nightmares!
Cost: $20 in person for all five events. Major credit cards accepted. Tickets are also available online and at the event starting at 6:30.
EVENTS FOR KIDS UNDER 8 YEARS OLD
- The Great Pumpkin’s Trick-or-Treat: Bring your little ones for trick-or-treating in Bastyr University’s famed herb garden. Paint and race a car on our themed “streets,” get your face painted, and meet favorite characters! Don’t forget your camera! Cost: $5 (Runs 5-6:45 p.m.)
- Children’s Carnival: Carnival-style games and events geared for the littler ones! Cost depends on activity. Cash only. (Runs 5:30-9 p.m.)
FOOD, GAGS AND MORE
- Fortune Telling: The Fortune Tellers are back this year to give you insight into your future, if you dare to see what’s in store for you.
- “Mad Hatter’s” Concession Stand: Buy novelty items for the trail. Glow sticks and wands, flashing rings, T-shirts, hoodies, hats, rain ponchos and more at our favorite spooky-and-scare store!
- Parking: Free event parking is available on the Bastyr University campus, 14500 Juanita Drive N.E., Kenmore, WA 98028.

ABOUT HAUNTED TRAILS / DONATIONS
Created in 1998, Bastyr University’s Haunted Trails has grown in size and popularity each year. It now attracts thousands of guests from throughout the greater Seattle area. All proceeds support the University’s study away programs, including the Department of Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine’s annual trip to China. The fundraiser is run entirely by dedicated volunteer teams of Bastyr University students, faculty, and staff. If you can’t make the event, or want to continue supporting the students of Bastyr even after being frightened, you can make a tax-deductible donation online at HauntedTrailsBU.org.
