So hot that the roads melted

How hot is it?

It's so hot that part of the roadway melted on NE 175th between 10th Ave NE and I-5.

Due to the extended heat the road surface softened. Public works crews were on the scene Thursday afternoon working to stabilize the road surface.

Emergency vehicles directed traffic around the site, while traffic through the zone backed up and moved very slowly down what is a high capacity roadway.

By 6:33pm, the road was cleared of emergency vehicles and was open for travel. Staff advise that there is still sand on the road and advised drivers to proceed with caution.

WOW! Thank you to those workers out making the road usable during this heat! WHAT A HOT JOB THAT MUST HAVE BEEN!
I'm thankful to you for your work!

Shoreline doesn't hold a therm to much hotter cities across the country. Is SeaTac Airport melting? Is I-5 melting? If Shoreline's roads are melting, it's because the City took a paving short cut.

Roads should not soften this easily - it wasn't even 90 until that day. Sounds like a longer term problem that should be addressed. That section of road was just redone a few years ago!

This City needs a Citizen's oversight and accountability panel.

Yeah, that's what it is. The city took a paving short cut on a section of road.
