LFP Traffic Camera |
As a part of the City of Lake Forest Park’s plan to help mitigate traffic safety concerns, address the increase in traffic volume on SR 522 (Bothell Hwy), and to increase the safety of pedestrians, a new Traffic Safety Red-Light Photo Enforcement Camera will be installed at the intersection of NE 170th and SR 522.
To comply with State Law, “Photo Enforcement” signs have been posted in the area. It is expected that enforcement will begin at the end of August.
For more information about the LFP Traffic Safety Photo Enforcement Program, see their webpage.
Another money maker for the city...they can't run a city with the current population and zero growth with the high property taxes already. I think it's time they disbanded their local government and joined up with the city of Shoreline to make ONE tax base and city area....their reason to be a city has no point now with environmental regulations on tree cutting etc.
ReplyDeleteHurray for traffic cameras! They are a totally voluntary taxation system and should be established at more sites. We could probably do away with sales tax, property fax and excise fees for a couple of years based on the way most people drive. Does anyone out there remember you are supposed to stop for pedestrians? Do pedestrians know you are supposed to look both ways before stepping out into the street and you have to give a driver time to see you? Does anyone believe the speed limit is a law and not a suggestion?
ReplyDeleteIncreasing the traffic increases pedestrian safety. That's what Shoreline's transportation staff keeps telling its citizens.
ReplyDeleteNot a money maker for the city...I contend the traffic camera provider makes the money. I'm thinking the city was sold a bill of goods under the guise of safety! The only difference these cameras will make safety-wise is when a pedestrian gets hit, there will be photo evidence.
