Large scale Comcast outage Monday night

Monday, June 1, 2015

According to our news partner The Seattle Times,

Comcast customers in the Puget Sound area are without service because of a widespread outage Monday night.
Outages have been reported in numerous cities on the West Coast, with the largest outages affecting Seattle and San Francisco, according to downdetector.com, a crowd-sourced outage site. Comcast has not released an estimated restoration time, but Comcast has notified some customers the restoration may come as late as midnight.

The Shoreline Area News internet did not go down, but it was certainly exhibiting some strange behavior!

There was a quick fix for this. Change your DNS servers from Comcast to Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). Fixed it real quick for me.

Also, what's Shoreline's policy on ISPs? Any chance for a municipal run service? I'd love to kick horrible Comcast to the curb.

Count me in for an alternative to Comcast. What happens when you have your phone and your home security with them and it goes down? You can't call 911 when the break in occurs -
