Shorewood baseball Tuesday in district tournament semifinals

Shorewood plays in the Northwest District 3A baseball tournament semifinals Tuesday at the Meridian Park School Fields in Shoreline.
The Thunderbirds take an 18-3 record into the first semifinal game Tuesday at 4pm against Meadowdale (13-8). Lynnwood and Marysville-Pilchuck (both 15-6) meet in the second semifinal game at 7pm.
The semifinal winners advance to the district championship game at Everett Memorial Stadium Saturday, May 16, at 4pm, with both finalists advancing to the regional round of state tournament play May 23.
Semifinal losers play in separate Wednesday elimination games, with Wednesday winners advancing to the district third-place game at Everett Memorial Saturday at 1pm, with the third-place team also advancing to regional play.
The district's No. 1 and No. 3 teams play in a Regional tournament at Skagit Valley College. The No. 2 team goes to the Bellevue Regional. Regional winners qualify for the state semifinals and finals May 29-30 in Pasco.
Shorewood reached the district semifinals with an 8-1 victory over Arlington Saturday, May 9. Winning pitcher Cole McKisson improved his season record to 5-1, while giving up one earned run and three hits over six innings. Will Smith pitched a scoreless seventh. Thunderbird Arthur Pate hit 3 for 4 and scored three runs, while teammates Harrison Jacobs and Steffan Torgerson both hit triples.
The T-birds reached the district tournament by winning the Western Conference 3A South with a 15-3 record. Lynnwood, Meadowdale and Mountlake Terrace also qualified for the district tournament from the Wesco South; Pilchuck, Oak Harbor and Arlington from the Wesco 3A North; and Ferndale from the Northwest Conference.
