Shoreline Councilman Salomon gets another challenger

Shoreline City Councilman Jesse Salomon has a new challenger for the coming election.

He's Michael Bachety, a Richmond Highlands resident who ran an unofficial write-in campaign in the 2013 council election. The 2013 campaign was unofficial because Bachety missed the deadline for being an official write-in candidate who would have votes counted even with minor errors.

Bachety, Salomon and challenger Lorn Richey have filed for the position.

Filing continues through Friday.

With three candidates, the position will appear on the August primary ballot with the top two vote getters advancing to the November general election.

The position that Councilman Chris Eggen is giving up also is likely to have a primary. Jessica Cafferty and Keith Scully have filed, with Ginny Scantlebury expected to join them.

Councilwoman Doris McConnell is the only candidate to have filed through Wednesday for the position that she has held for two four-year terms.

Best of luck to Lorn and Michael! Out with the old, in with the new!
