Lake Forest Park police held a meeting for block watch captains on Tuesday, March 3.

Police reviewed recent crime trends for the attendees and discussed prevention techniques.

Chief Steve Sutton reviewed some Prevention Programs, including the LFP Crime Prevention Guide, Trackmole which is a program for creating a household inventory, and Paws on Patrol which is a story about Mercer Island recruiting dog walkers as crime spotters.

Information about creating Emergency Kits rounded out the meeting.

Sutton told the group, "I have been here exactly one year – and every day I am reminded through the great work of our staff the value we bring to this community. I can assure you that you have an extremely professional and competent staff. Of the nearly 10,000 calls for service in 2013, there were no sustained complaints against our staff and no improperly applied use of force complaints while effecting over 3,000 arrests."

There will be an Emergency Preparedness meeting May 9 from 9am to 1pm at Northshore Fire Station 51.
