Only the Shorewood boys basketball team is still playing in District One tournament play, as the Shorewood girls, the Shorecrest girls, and the Shorecrest boys have all fallen by the wayside and seen their seasons end this week.
Shorewood's boys face a tough task if they're going to advance to the Regional round-of-sixteen next weekend. Friday they travel to Marysville-Pilchuck to face the Tommies at 7pm. With a win, they would play Saturday at 4:15pm at Jackson HS against the winner of Friday night's Ferndale/Arlington game. Their mission is simple .... win both games and live to play the following weekend or hang up their sneakers until next year.
The Shorewood girls faced a near impossible task as they travelled to #1 seed Arlington last Friday and lost, then took the long bus ride up to Ferndale on Tuesday where they were soundly defeated by the Golden Eagles, 57-39.
Shorecrest's girls fell to Blaine, 54-48 Thursday night at Mount Vernon, finishing their season. Tuesday they were defeated by top-seeded Burlington-Edison 49-41.
The Shorecrest boys lost their second game of the double-elimination tournament Monday afternoon, to Archbishop Murphy, 57-46.
