Bicyclists will take their annual (usually) cold weather ride on Bainbridge Island Sunday. The ride is nowhere as long as the Seattle to Portland ride, but the hills make it just as challenging.
Other vehicles and ferry riders are asked to proceed with caution. WSDOT says:
Are you planning to be down by the Seattle waterfront this Sunday, Feb. 22? You won’t be alone. More than 3,000 bicyclists will be loading onto a couple of ferries to get to Bainbridge Island for the annual Chilly Hilly Ride. All cyclists will enter the ferry terminal at Yesler Way.
Vehicle capacity will be limited on departures between 7:55 and 10:35am. There’s a lot of construction in this area so please proceed with caution and watch out for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. Also, be sure to check out the recent changes to Colman Dock access.
