N 200th will go to one lane for six months starting February 17 |
Aurora Construction Update
Updated February 10, 2015
Roadway Work
New curb, gutter, and sidewalk construction and irrigation/ landscaping work will continue along Aurora between N 200th Street and north of N 205th Street. Concrete driveways will be constructed in the vicinity of N 205th and Aurora.
The remaining southbound Business Access and Transit (BAT) lane from SR-104 to south of N 205th will be paved the week of February 9, weather permitting.
During this time, the southbound direction of Aurora and the affected side streets may be restricted to one lane during the daytime non-commute hours to perform any of the work above, weather permitting.
Utility Work
Seattle City Light, Comcast, and Frontier will continue installation of their systems from N 192nd Street to N 200th Street. This work converts the utilities from aerial to underground lines.
Planned Power Outage
At 8pm February 15 (Sunday evening), there will be a power outage for the vicinity of N 192nd Street and Aurora to transfer power to the underground system. Seattle City Light has notified affected customers. The traffic signals at N 192nd Street and Aurora will also be affected. This intersection will function as a four-way stop during the outage, which is expected to last 8 -10 hours.
Traffic Revisions on N 200th
Beginning on February 17, N 200th Street east of Aurora to the first driveway into Aurora Village / Costco will be reduced to one lane of traffic for approximately 6 months in order for crews to install a joint utility trench and a structural sidewalk. Traffic will run eastbound (see map above). Transit routes leaving the Aurora Transit Center will change. See King County Metro and Community Transit for the latest details.
Street Trees
The initial phase of work in this area will require the removal of trees along N 200th Street. The contractor will also remove some trees along Echo Lake Place for street improvements. When the work is complete, the trees will be replaced along N 200th Street and elsewhere in the project.

I found a citation of this on the city's website:
http://www.shorelineareanews.com/2015/02/aurora-construction-update-n-200th.html
It was dated 1/26/15. Your map above makes it look like any movement into eastbound 200th (east of Aurora) is allowed, which contracts the city's website, where it states:
"Only right turns will be allowed to or from Aurora and N 200th. No left turns will be allowed in any direction. Through traffic across Aurora on N 200th also won't be allowed."
Further, the above press release (above) misses some key points:
(1) It could be longer than six months - they're hoping to be done by August (the alerts that I saw indicated "possibly August" or "August/September" and are flagged as applicable "until further notice";
(2) Where the press release links direct you to are the main webpages for the two transit agencies, which is useless until they post the applicable "rider alert" there, which - as of a few moments ago, neither has; and
(3) The traffic ramifications aren't mentioned, but they will be considerable, for all of CT buses are being routed to the east of the transit center. That means that all Swift bus rapid transit, #101, #115, and what ordinarily would be westbound #130 buses (those bound for Edmonds) will be heading east on 200th, then north on Meridian, then west onto 205th/244th, with only the Swift buses staying on SR-104 and then using the onramp to SR-99 by Burlington Coat Factory; the rest will turn left by Panera and continue west on N. 205th, where they rejoin their regular routing (the #101 and 115 turning north onto SR-99. the #130 continuing straight). Going the other direction, just the opposite, except Swift, which is to use the cloverleaf to SR-104 by Denny's. Imagine all of the buses that will be in these stretches, particularly those compacted into the small westbound segment between Panera and Meridian, particularly when there's ferry traffic there. I sure hope that the city is getting WSDOT to re-time those lights, but if they do, all traffic in all of the other sides of the various intersections will be impacted as well.
I sent an email to Metro yesterday to see what re-route they're using, but no answer today. If they also use N. 205th plus Meridian, which is likely, this is going to be a real mess for anybody using those streets, trying to cross those streets (motor vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian), those who want to access the businesses at Aurora Village, or who even walk through those parking lots.
