Shorewood wrestling results Dec 10

Shorewood went up to Snohomish High School Wednesday night to wrestle and continued their challenging non-league schedule with matches against Snohomish and Mt. Vernon.

Wrestling their fifth and sixth dual matches plus a tournament and missing three key varsity wrestlers proved to be too much for the young Thunderbirds.

Opening the evening against Mt. Vernon Shorewood went out to hold a slim 25-15 lead after eight weight classes with the help of victories by seniors An Nguyen, Kaden Carpenter, Andrew Chum and Erca Erdenebayer.

However, the Bulldogs from the north would dominate the lower weights to take an insurmountable 36-25 lead before senior Erik Harris-Uldall collected his third consecutive pin since dropping to 138 pounds for the final score of 35-31.

Against Snohomish the final score of 59-15 doesn’t reflect how tough the Thunderbirds wrestled. With seven out of eleven varsity Shorewood wrestlers being underclassmen Snohomish used patience and experience to grind out close victory after close victory. Seniors Thunderbirds Andrew Chum, Erik Harris-Uldall and Erca Erdenebayer each won to score all of the team’s points.

Shorewood wrestles next this Saturday at the Hurricane Invitational at Decatur High School.
