Pam Stucky |
Looking for a great gift for tweens or teens for the holidays— or for yourself? Or just looking for something fun to do Saturday night?
Local author Pam Stucky will be at Third Place Books Saturday evening, 6:30pm on December 13 in the bookstore Den, for a book reading/ signing of her latest book, The Universes Inside the Lighthouse, a Young Adult (YA) sci-fi adventure. And remember, YA books are not just for kids! People of all ages are already enjoying Pam's imaginative and fun new novel.
Reviewers are saying:
"Reminded me of Christopher Pike’s wonderful series Spooksville (one of my all time favourites growing up) .... The plot was full of twists and turns ... it was suspenseful and exciting, a perfect children’s adventure story and a compelling read. I would recommend this to anyone with teenagers that enjoy adventure stories of any kind, and I can't wait for the second in the series." — Alison, Chapter One Reviews
"I never grew tired of seeing what [the author] might come up with next.... What would it be like to visit other planets? As someone who has often wondered about this, I was intrigued by all of the places that these characters see. Earth is unique in many different ways. It was nice to see this subtly acknowledged before the author went on to show the amazing range of possibilities.I would have liked to visit (almost) all of them." — Astilbe, Long and Short Reviews
The Universes Inside the Lighthouse, the first in Pam’s new Balky Point Adventure series, is about Emma and Charlie Nelson, seventeen-year-old twins, who set out to unravel a mystery at a lighthouse and end up making a discovery that will take them to the far reaches of the universe…s. On one level, it’s a fun YA sci-fi adventure novel about travel through space and a little bit of time, to different worlds and to places where everything is possible. On a deeper level, for those looking for a deeper level, it’s about loneliness, connection, discovering the powers within oneself, and dancing with the enemy.
Pam promises an evening of fun and laughs … or at the very least, she’ll be doing a drawing for a $20 gift certificate to Third Place Books, and there are rumors there might be free cookies. Come on by and say hello!
Pam is also the author of The Wishing Rock series (adult contemporary fiction) and The Pam on the Map series (travelogues).
