Crews working on I-5 in Shoreline

After weeks of replacing and repairing concrete panels on southbound I-5 between SR 104 (Ballinger Way/205th) and NE 117th Street near Northgate, contractor crews are getting ready to make the turn north.

Beginning the week of Oct. 27, panel replacement work will start in the northbound lanes. It’ll get underway near NE 145th and work north to the King-Snohomish County line - the entire length of Shoreline.

But the southbound lanes aren’t done yet. After Nov. 1, a new crew comes in to start grinding those lanes. That will help remove shallow cracks and the bumps on I-5, including the bump drivers are experiencing over the new panels.

Grinding work is generally noisier, so they planned it to start in November when nearby residents are more likely to have windows closed at night to keep out the colder temperatures.

More information about the project, including ramp closure information and detour routes, can be found right here.
