Shoreline Resident Earns Scholarship from WWU

BELLINGHAM — Western Washington University student Lauren Marie Sweeten, daughter of Natalie Sweeten of Shoreline, received a $2,500 Non-Traditional Student Waiver scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. 

The Non-Traditional Student Waiver scholarship is available to undergraduate students enrolled at Western who are Washington state residents, have financial need as defined in the FAFSA, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and meet at least one of the non-traditional student criteria. A student can meet non-traditional criteria if they are a displaced homemaker, dislocated worker, foster youth, non-citizen student, have a disability, have delayed college enrollment, or they have dependents they support.

Sweeten is a senior majoring in Communications Sciences and Disorders. Her professional goals are to attend graduate school, become a speech language pathologist, and open a theater therapy clinic.
