Republican Reedy qualifies to meet Democratic 32nd District State Sen. Chase despite trailing Eggen in King County

Republican Robert Reedy qualified in the August 5 primary to meet Democratic 32nd District State Sen. Maralyn Chase in the November 4 general election even though Reedy trailed Democrat Chris Eggen in the King County part of the district.
In the King County portion of the district -- Shoreline and part of northwest Seattle -- Eggen led Reedy 3,564 votes (26.69 percent) to 2,727 (20.42 percent), behind the 7,236 votes for Chase (52.68 percent), with 28 write-in votes (0.21 percen).
But in the Snohomish County part of the district -- Lynnwood, Woodway and nearby unincorporated areas, and south Edmonds -- Reedy led Eggen 2,980 votes (30.98 percent) to 1,909 votes (19.84 percent, behind Chase's 4,698 (48.84 percent), with 33 write-in votes (0.34 percent).
That gave Chase 11,934 total votes, Reedy 5,707 and Eggen 5,473, with 61 write-in votes.
Both counties certified results Tuesday, Aug. 19. The secretary of state signed final certification Friday, Aug. 22.
