Outside mail drop at Bitterlake Post Office out of commission

Snorkel box

The outside mail drop box at the Bitterlake Post Office was taken out of commission when it - and a light pole - were struck by a vehicle.

The damaged box is referred to as a "snorkel box".

Unfortunately, said a spokesperson, there are no spare snorkel boxes in Seattle. The post office is trying to find a spare one elsewhere and may have to purchase a new one from the manufacturer.

The spokesperson said that they don’t know when they will be able to install a replacement.
