Construction is underway at Sunset School Park, 17800 10th Ave NW, to build new accessible paths, tot play equipment and swings, a half-sized basketball court, and athletic field improvements.

The park will be partially open (the west open lawn area, pathways and community garden). Users and local residents should expect construction equipment and trucks at the site throughout the summer. A community celebration is anticipated for mid-September.

Like Paramount School Park in Ridgecrest, the land belongs to the Shoreline School District land bank, but the city has the right to operate a public park on the space until such time as the school district may need to use it.

  1. If the current lower class size initiative passes, will we rebuild these two schools in order to have smaller classes?

  2. Smaller class size means means more capex, more teachers, less work per teacher and lower wages.
