The King County roads-and-transit package on the April 22 ballot continued to be headed for defeat despite a slight narrowing of the gap in returns released Tuesday.

Tuesday returns showed proposition 1 losing by a 53.97 percent to 46.03 percent margin.

Returns released Wednesday showed little change, with the measure still losing, 53.96 percent to 46.04 percent.

County officials had counted ballots from 37.80 percent of registered voters, approaching the expected 38 percent. They will post new returns each weekday through May 6.
