Little Free Library in Echo Lake neighborhood

The Echo Lake Neighborhood held a grand opening celebration on Saturday for the newest Little Free Library in Shoreline.

David and Helen Clark are the stewards for the N 190th Little Free Library. Along with Richard Gaeta, Ann Guthrie and Paddy Guthrie, they built and installed it for their Echo Lake community. 

The way it works is simple:

• They initially stock the LFL with a variety of good, quality books that they hope will interest their neighbors, both children and adults.
• You stop by and take whatever catches your fancy.
• You return and bring back the book, or bring a book to contribute.
• LFL books are always a gift – never for sale!

Little Free Library is a movement started in 2010 by Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin and Rick Brooks of Madison, Wisconsin. It has grown to include little libraries in most states and dozens of countries. The Little Free Library's mission is to:

1. Promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.
2. Foster a sense of community and connection as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations.
3. Build more than 2,510 libraries around the world (the number of “real” libraries built by Andrew Carnegie)!
