Obituaries are condensed biographies of people's lives, written by the people who loved them. Like a memorial service, they tell us things we may not have known about the person, and may leave us wishing we had known them better.

Haruo "Ham" Kumasaka 1918-2014 Survived the 1919 influenza epidemic. Spent World War II in the Minadoka internment camp in Idaho. Ham and wife Minnie were married 64 years, living in Europe, and all over the US. Spent their final years in the Anderson Assisted Living in Shoreline.
Marcile C. Mack 1919-2014 Dean of the School of Performing Arts at Seattle University.
Selmer Dahl Age 79 1961 graduate of Shoreline High School.
Karen Ann Toreson 1944-2014 Professor of Business Technology at Shoreline CC for 27 years.
Jodi Anne (Humphries) Knudson 1964-2014 Jodi "thrived on being part of her Lake Forest Park community and especially enjoyed her work in the Lake Forest Park Elementary school office." She died after a "13-year war with metastatic breast cancer ... her husband, Steve, passed away just six months ago after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive brain cancer. Steve and Jodi, two people who were so loved by so many, leave behind two beautiful teenage daughters who share their parents' positive attitudes, sense of compassion and ambition to make the world a better place."
Norma Couvelier Johns 1928-2014 Private graveside services at Acacia in Lake Forest Park. Memorial service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline. Donations can be made to her team "Cousins for the Cure" in the Cancer Relay for Life.
Margaret Kathleen (Kay) Bartholomew 1922-2014 Charter member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. Taught in Shoreline School District. A finalist for National Teacher of the Year, Kay enjoyed a reception on the White House lawn with First Lady Pat Nixon. See previously published obituary here.
Richard Sacksteder "Richard lived his 92 years to the fullest with joy, enthusiasm and humor". A "dedicated career educator with the Shoreline School District" he was an active member of the Seattle Classical guitar society and Scandia Dance.
Janith M. Fales Age 73 Passed away peacefully in Shoreline.
Patricia M. Amundsen 1927-2014 Services at St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline.
Martin P. Olsen 1947-2014 Counselor at Shoreline Community College for 35 years.
Helen C. Green Age 98 Taught elementary school for 30 years. Services at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Shoreline, where Helen was a long-time member.
Veronica A. (Medalia) Johnson 1932-2014 Rosary and funeral mass at St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline.
