Shorewood-Shorecrest baseball series opens with 8-1, 6-0 Shorewood victories Tuesday and Wednesday at Shorecrest going into game Saturday at Meridian Park

Shorewood won the first two games of its baseball series with Shorecrest, 8-1 Tuesday, and 6-0 Wednesday, both at Shorecrest.

The series concludes with a Saturday 5pm game at Shorewood’s home Meridian Park fields.

The Shorewood victories gave the Thunderbirds a 4-0 Western Conference 3A record (7-0 overall) going into the final game with Shorecrest (0-4, 1-6).

In the 8-1 Shorewood victory over Shorecrest Tuesday, Alex Mason batted in Shorecrest’s only run, while hitting 2 for 3; teammate Nik Hendricks hit 1 for 2 with a double. For Shorewood, Steffen Torgersen hit 1 for 1 with an RBI and two runs scored; teammate Brenden O'Brien hit 1 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. Winning pitcher for Shorewood was Ben Tracy. Hendricks took the loss.

In the 6-0 Shorewood victory Wednesday, Spencer Jacobs led the Thunderbirds with a triple and two runs scored; teammate Kory Longaker hit a double. Winning pitcher Sam Boone pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking 4. Mason took the loss for Shorecrest.

The Shorewood junior varsity took a 3-0, 5-0 record into the Wednesday game at Shorecrest (0-3, 1-5), a Friday 4:30pm non-conference home game with Edmonds-Woodway and a noon Saturday home game with Shorecrest after the T-bird JVs won home games from Everett, 14-0, Monday and Shorecrest, 14-4, Tuesday.
