World Concern’s “Free Them” 5k Returns May 10

World Concern’s “Free Them” 5k returns to Seattle on Saturday, May 10, 2014, with a goal of preventing one of the most horrific crimes of our generation. The event, now in its sixth year, raises awareness and funds for World Concern’s anti-trafficking programs.

Last year, more than 2,000 runners and walkers raised over $150,000 to help protect vulnerable children and women from becoming victims of human trafficking by participating in the “Free Them” 5k.

Human trafficking is estimated to be the third largest criminal activity in the world, and more than 80% of trafficking victims are women and young girls. World Concern works to protect those vulnerable to modern-day slavery, sexual exploitation, and abuse in some of the poorest places in Southeast Asia and around the world. 

Every $40 a participant raises or donates helps protect one child from becoming a victim. Donations provide trafficking awareness training for children and women at risk, as well as education, job skills, and business start-up kits so they can earn income safely.
