A two-day workshop to learn how to assist people you might meet with mental health problems is being offered next Monday and Tuesday - spaces are still available. You do not have to be in the mental health field, just someone that has contact with people and sometimes recognizes that they might have a mental problem and you would like to know how to handle the situation.
Per the flier: "You are more likely to encounter someone-friend, family member, student, neighbor, or member of the community in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches a 5-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of a mental illness or in a crisis, and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social or self held care."
Free training: Youth Mental Health First Aid USA training Monday, Tuesday, April 28-29, 12n to 4pm, co-Sponsored by the Shoreline/Northshore Community Network and Center for Human Services. Registration is required.
