Schools Superintendent search update

Monday, February 3, 2014

Shoreline School District Superintendent Sue Walker is retiring at the end of the school year and the search is now under way for her successor.

The Shoreline School Board retained the services of Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) to assist in the Superintendent Search process. Phase 1 of that process involved hosting forums and an on-line survey during the week of Jan. 13 to gather stakeholder input from the greater school and community regarding current district areas of strength, areas of suggested improvement, and the skills, knowledge, and leader characteristics desired in the future superintendent.

Consultants Janet Barry and Brian Benzel from HYA coordinated the collection of this information and provided the Board with a summary report at its Jan. 27 meeting for reference in Phase 2 (applicant screening and interviews). The Board adopted the Desired Superintendent Characteristics to help guide the search for a new superintendent.

Links to the Desired Superintendent Characteristics, and the HYA summary and complete Leadership Profile Report may be found on the updated Superintendent Search Page.
