Shorecrest to present 'Harvey' as its fall play

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Shorecrest High School will present its fall play “Harvey” by Mary Chase from Nov. 14 to 17 and 21 to 24 in the school theater.

“Harvey” is a beautiful and charming Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, celebrating timeless ideas of friendships, beliefs, and morals. Exploring what it means to be a friend, how people live their lives, and how we interact are some of the most common of human thoughts and desires.

Further, the magical element turns this story into a modern-day fairy tale. Believing in what we cannot see or understand, and having that help us to see the good in the world is the basis behind so many philosophies and religions in the world—and that is what Elwood learns from Harvey. An invisible, six-foot-tall rabbit, Harvey represents a belief in good, letting your life happen on its own course, staying true to your beliefs, and ultimately being a happy, kind, and honest person.

Showtimes are Nov. 14 to 16 and 21 to 23 at 7:30pm, and Nov. 17 and 24 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 in advance at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park Town Center and $12 the day of the show. Tickets are also available online. More information here.
