Health reform for front line workers - NUHSA training session

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

The North Urban Human Service Alliance is sponsoring a training for front line workers and others interested in helping people without health insurance use the new Washington Insurance Exchange. The event will be Thursday, November 19th, Shoreline City Hall Council Chambers, from 8:30 to 10:00am.

A representative from Public Health Seattle and King County will provide an overview of how the health insurance exchange works, where to enroll and where those who need help can find personalized assistance. Participants will also learn how the Medicaid expansion program will work to provide health insurance coverage. There will be time for questions and answers so bring your concerns.

According to the American Community Survey estimates, there are more than 12,000 adults between the ages of 19 and 64 in North King County without health insurance. Medical bills are a major stressor for many families and a leading cause of personal bankruptcy.

The North Urban Human Service Alliance is composed of representatives of local cities, King County government, United Way, faith communities, non-profit organizations and others interested in building the community’s capacity to respond to human service needs in North King County.
