Martha Dankers - Mpressions by Nature
As a Master Gardener, I have always loved the inherent beauty of plants in the northwest. I have many garden spaces filled with my favorite plants both native and landscape. I have a special passion for ferns.
I discovered that through my pottery, I could preserve the beauty of plants by making botanical impressions in clay. Through the creation of my art I now look at plants with a more appreciative eye. I now see more closely the exquisite design of each leaf and flower.
"Mpressions by Nature" is aptly named: I make the impressions but Nature is the true artist.
Watercolor by Amanda Schuster |
Amanda Schuster - Watercolors
I have enjoyed the visual arts and painting my whole life with a particular interest in watercolor for its versatility and dynamic nature. My love for color and the potential that watercolor gives me to create luminous layers within my subjects is both challenging and highly rewarding. The subjects I find especially intriguing are those that require a degree of "tightness" in the composition but can be so beautifully illuminated using the loose medium of watercolor.
After studying architecture in college, I ended up working in a non-art related field. As my time opened up in the last decade, I have dedicated much of myself to art and have been taking classes in watercolor with some of the local masters including both Kay Barnes and Elizabeth Kincaid.
I grew up in the Puget Sound area and currently live in Woodinville with my husband and two children. We have had the opportunity to travel extensively where I get much of my inspiration from images we see on our adventures.
