Slow down! New speed limit on SR 522 through Lake Forest Park

New speed limit on SR 522 through Lake Forest Park: 45 mph to 40 mph

Drivers will soon notice new speed limit signs on State Route 522 through Kenmore and Lake Forest Park. At the recommendation of the Washington State Department of Transportation, both city councils agreed to reduce the speed limit from 45 mph to 40 mph between 91st Ave NE in Kenmore and NE 145th St in Lake Forest Park. The lower speed limit more accurately reflects the current roadway conditions.

Drivers can expect daytime right lane closures on Monday, Oct. 21 while WSDOT maintenance crews replace speed limit signs.

  1. Going north is downhill from 145th through LFP. Lower the speed limit equals more revenue for the City. This is about raising revenue...not public safety.

  2. Since you like to throw out mythology, what is the statistical amount of amount the city received from CITED offenses on Bothell Way NE/SR 522? What? You don't have actual numbers? Shocked! Shocked I say! The reality is that the DOT downward directed LFP AND Kenmore to adopt the new speeds. Neither Kenmore PD nor LFP PD had any say in the matter no did they express any desire to see the limit reduced. The cities dropped the limits, again, because DOT said they should. Next time, come here with facts, real numbers and real information.

    1. Not true. Kenmore and LFP asked for the speed limit reduction and WSDOT concurred.

  3. DOT has far too much power, and wastes far too much money.

  4. This is how WSDOT is choosing to waste their time instead of informing drivers that slower vehicles need to stay right.

A road diet for state highways... why is it that I'm not the least bit surprised?

  5. That would be news to many folks in both cities, especially their respective police departments.

  6. I just like the fact that people were already driving much slower than the posted speed limit. So now they are going to drive ridiculously slow. I so need to move.
