Calling young trombone players – the Shoreline Jazz Camp needs you

2012 Jazz Camp performance
Learn to play with the pros at the Shoreline Jazz Camp August 5-9, 12 and 13 at the Shorecrest High School. The mission of the Shoreline Jazz Camp is to provide young musicians the opportunity to learn and play with some of the region’s most accomplished teachers and performers, and "we’re short in the trombone section."

This year’s Trombone faculty member will be David Marriott, Jr. An award winning musician and educator, Mr. Marriott is the premier jazz trombonist in the greater Seattle area. His “uncanny and imaginative playing” is the cornerstone of such ensembles as Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Emerald City Jazz Orchestra, Zubatto Syndicate, and The Right Wolf, as well as his own groups, Septology, Pop Culture, and Marriott Brothers Quintet.

Other opening still available for the Shoreline Jazz camp are Guitar (3-4 spots), Bass (1 spot), and Trumpet (4 spots), all other sections are full.

The camp (open to 7th- 12th graders) will showcase the students’ hard work in two performances on August 13. The first will be an early lunch concert at Shorecrest High School at 11am, and the second at 7pm will take place at Shoreline’s North City Jazz Walk.

The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to nurture all of the arts in the community through programs and events, arts education, advocacy, and support for artists and arts organizations.
