Shorecrest High School music department was well represented at the Washington Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble state competition held last weekend in Ellensburg. To qualify, each music student received a top ranking in the Sno-King district Solo/Ensemble competition held last February. Winners from 21 state districts performed and competed before a panel of adjudicators.
David Miller, percussion, took top honors in timpani, and second place in snare drum and mallets.
Other state qualifiers from Shorecrest in the solo category:
- Eric Mulhern on both guitar and bass clarinet, finishing 3rd place on bass clarinet
- Erin Anderson, clarinet
- Carter Osborne, trumpet
- Nathaniel Laviste, oboe
- Eleanor Legault, violin
- Adam Weiss, viola
Erin Anderson and Andrew Horton qualified in the Ensemble division performing a clarinet duo.
