Four Shorecrest athletes, one from Shorewood win on first day of District track meet; Shorecrest girls lead team score going into Friday finals
Four Shorecrest athletes and one from Shorewood won championships in the nine track and field finals conducted Wednesday in the 11-team Northwest District 3A championships
Shorecrest led the girls’ team scoring with 14 girls’ finals to be contested Friday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School along with 12 boys' finals.
Spencer Tu of Shorewood won the boys’ high jump. Shorecrest winners were Carter Osborne in the boys’ 1600 meters, Diana Conwell in the girls’ discus throw, Aiko Mizumori-Canfield in the girls’ javelin throw and Wurrie Njadoe in the girls’ long jump.
The top three finishers in each event qualify for the State meet May 23-25.
Boys’ Team scores (Day 1) — Oak Harbor 40, Shorewood 33, Stanwood 31, Mountlake Terrace 20, Shorecrest 18, Marysville Getchell 17, Marysville-Pilchuck 13, Ferndale 12, Meadowdale 8, Glacier Peak 3.

Shot put — Jeremy Foster, Oak Harbor, 50-9.5.
High jump — Chris Hailer, Oak Harbor, 6-0.
Long jump — Spencer Tu, Shorewood, 20-8.5
Pole vault — Henry Garman, Stanwood, 13-6.
1600 — Carter Osborne, Shorecrest, 4:22.99.
Girls’ Team scores (Day 1) — Shorecrest 38, Glacier Peak 28, Shorewood 21, Stanwood 18, Mountlake Terrace 11, Ferndale 10, Marysville-Pilchuck 9, Meadowdale 8, Oak Harbor 8, Marysville Getchell 4, Everett 1.
