Shorewood improves soccer record to 5-1-1 with 2-0 home victory over Marysville-Pilchuck Wednesday

The Shorewood boys’ soccer team won a home game from Marysville Pilchuck Wednesday at Shoreline Stadium, giving the Thunderbirds a 5-1-1 overall record (3-1-1 Western Conference 3A) going into a Tuesday, April 9, match at Marysville Getchell.

Shorewood opened the scoring at the 17th minute when Dawda Dibba passed a ball to Abdul Abdulla who scored his second goal of the season. The half ended with a 1-0 Shorewood lead.

Although both teams put together some quality chances in the second half, neither scored until the last minute when Dawda was fouled just outside the penalty box and took the free kick quickly. It grazed the right post and went in for his fifth goal of the year and a 2-0 win for Shorewood.

Calvin Crawford had the shutout in goal for Shorewood.

Shorewood and Marysville Getchell meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marysville Getchell High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at 5:30.

The Shorewood JVs had a 4-1-1 record (3-0-1 Wesco 3A) going into the Wednesday meeting with Marysville-Pilchuck.
