SCC Baseball sweeps Western Washington Club team 6-2 and 14-5

The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team swept the Western Washington University Club Team on Tuesday in Bellingham, WA by the scores of 6-2 and 14-5.

In the Game 1, a 14-5 win, Mitch Hoveke had 4 hits including a double and scored three runs while Luke Merkel added 3 hits with 3 RBIs, Connor King had 2 hits with 3 RBIs and Josh Fitch had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs as the SCC offense pounded out 15 hits in the game. SCC used 4 pitchers in the game with Ben Parker getting the win as the starter.

In Game 2, Nic Van Der Ven and Aaron Rose combined on a 7 hitter on the mound and Luke Merkel had 2 hits including a double with a run scored and a RBI to lead SCC to a 6-2 win.

SCC is now 12-5-1 on the season and opens NWAACC Northern Region play this weekend against the #1 Ranked team in the NWAACC, Everett Community College. EVCC is also ranked #3 for the Pacific Coast (including all community colleges in Washington, Oregon and California). 

The four game series starts at Memorial Stadium in Everett on Saturday at 1:00pm for two games and then moves to Meridian Park in Shoreline at 3:00pm on Sunday in the final doubleheader. Everett is 15-5 on the season and 3-1 in the Northern Region after taking 3 out to 4 games from Skagit Valley College last weekend.
