Rain City Rotary: a service project every month

The Members of Rain City Rotary keep busy doing a service project every month

Here is what they have done lately:

In February they worked at Food Lifeline repacking potatoes. They were among a group of 30 people who together took potatoes out of 2000 pound containers and put them into 5 pound bags – then put the bags into cardboard boxes – 8 bags per box. All together they repacked 12,200 pounds of potatoes; that translates to 9,385 meals. Whew!

“I love working at Food Lifeline because it is fun and energizing; and I feel good that I am helping get food to hungry people.” Says President Donna Eggen.

In March Rain City Rotary joined with other Rotarians for the annual “Books For the World” packing.

Sixty Rotarians packed up books that have been collected over the past year. The group packed 330 boxes of books that will be shipped to Africa and India.

Member Janet Shandley said “It is always fun, and I look forward to it every year. As a book lover, I appreciate the variety of books that are donated.”

Rain City Rotary meets most Thursdays at 6:30pm at Shoreline City Hall. They serve dessert and wine. You are invited to join them. Call 206-367-3122 to confirm a meeting.
