Shorewood takes 2-0 baseball record into Wednesday Wesco 3A opener at home against Marysville Getchell after victories over Kamiak and Mariner

The Shorewood baseball team opens its Western Conference 3A season with a home game against Marysville Getchell Wednesday after non-league victories over 4A Kamiak and Mariner.

Shorewood and Marysville Getchell meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Shorewood’s home Meridian Park Fields. Junior varsity teams from the two schools play at the same time at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

The Thunderbirds opened their season with a 3-1 home victory over Kamiak Thursday in a game postponed from Wednesday. Max Wagner and Ben Andrews hit doubles for Shorewood. Sam Boone was the winning pitcher.

Shorewood then won at Mariner, 16-1, Friday. The Thunderbird junior varsity defeated Mariner, 22-0, at home.

For the Shorewood varsity against Mariner, Josh Wilkes batted 2-for-4 with a triple, a single and three RBI, and Andy Carpenter added three singles. Ben Tracy was the winning pitcher in relief.
