Six schools have been recognized this month as Level One King County Green Schools. In Level One, schools improve their waste reduction and recycling practices. In addition to setting up effective recycling programs, Level One schools establish at least one paper reduction practice, one lunch waste reduction practice, and one practice involving durable products.

Many participating schools report lower garbage disposal costs after reducing waste and recycling.

The six Level One King County Green Schools are:

  • Carriage Crest Elementary School (Kent School District)
  • Glenridge Elementary School (Kent School District)
  • Helen Keller Elementary School (Lake Washington School District)
  • Northwest Yeshiva High School (private, Mercer Island)
  • Secondary Academy for Success (Northshore School District)
  • The Evergreen School (private, Shoreline)

The Evergreen School is located at 15201 Meridian Ave N, Shoreline 98133. The school is an elementary through middle school that educates highly capable students from preschool to eighth grade.
