46th District Legislators issue Statement on the Fatal Accident in North Seattle
Tuesday, March 26, 2013
State Sen. David Frockt, State Rep. Gerry Pollet and State Rep. Jessyn Farrell have issued a statement in response to yesterday’s accident in North Seattle
The three 46th District Democrats represent Lake Forest Park and Kenmore in addition to the northeast corner of Seattle.
Here is their statement:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of yesterday’s tragic accident just east of Eckstein Middle Schools at 33rd Avenue Northeast and Northeast 75th, where two people were killed and two remain in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.
“Law enforcement officials will conduct a thorough investigation, but preliminary reports indicate that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the incident. Driving while intoxicated is always unacceptable even when no one is hurt. The potential for injury or death is too great a burden for our community to bear.
“There will be a time to reevaluate traffic safety laws in our state, but new legislation will not comfort grieving families. We ask that you join us in offering whatever support and help we can provide to those whose lives will be forever changed by this devastating incident, and to be conscious as drivers on our neighborhood streets.”
