Shorewood girls to meet Stanwood for third in District Friday after Tuesday victory over Ferndale in final game in old gym

The Shorewood girls’ basketball team meets top-seeded Stanwood for third place in the Northwest District 3A tournament Friday after a 54-52 victory over Ferndale in the final game played in the old gymnasium at Shorewood High School. Feb 12, 2013.

Western Conference 3A South No. 2 Shorewood takes a 16-7 record into the 6 p.m. Friday game at Lynnwood High School against Stanwood (19-4) for the District's No. 3 berth in the regional round of state 3A play. The third-place game will be followed at 8 pm by the District championship game between Everett (12-10) and Glacier Peak (17-5).

In Shorewood’s 54-52 victory over Ferndale, the Thunderbirds led 12-9 after the first quarter but fell behind 21-18 at halftime before taking a 39-28 lead after three quarters and barely holding off the Eagles in the final period.

Masha Shtikel led the T-birds with 20 points followed by Angel Tulee with 15.
