Math and Engineering Fair
Community members of all ages are invited to enjoy hands-on activities, games and prizes at the Cascade K-8 Math and Engineering Fair from 6-8pm on Thursday, February 7th at Cascade K-8 Community School, 17077 Meridian Ave N 98133. 206-393-4180.

Everyone is invited to come and check out Cascade's multi-age format and experiential education in action. Students approaching middle school are especially encouraged to come find out about Cascade's Journey program, which utilizes the National Science Foundations' STEAM system of learning: an interdisciplinary study of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Current students and Cascade K-8 parents will be available in the office to chat about all grade levels.

This annual, public event is designed to celebrate how much fun math and engineering can be. Fair stations will feature design-and-build activities representing particular engineering disciplines. For example, in the Civil Engineering area, parents and children will be constructing model dams. In the Aerospace Engineering area participants will design and test wind foils.

The event covers Mechanical Engineering, Environmental, Engineering, Design Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Robotics. Attendees will see demonstrations of robots, loudspeaker designs, solar panels, nanotechnology, sustainable farming, carpentry, and more.

Partners include: High School PRONTO robotics team, Cascade K-8 Lego League Team, Shoreline Solar Project, and Seattle Tilth. Music will be provided by Cascade K-8 Jazz Ensemble.

A Used Book Fair with hundreds of gently used books will be part of the fair offering. Book donations will be accepted at the school any day before the event.
