Strange New Family moves into Edmonds gallery

The Family Strange
has moved into Edmonds
A new family has just moved into Stunningly Strange Gallery in downtown Edmonds. The family, known as The Family Strange, is a new body of work by local artist and Stunningly Strange Gallery owner, Kaitlin Phillips Goodey.

Phillips Goodey will be introducing the first installment of this ongoing project to the public in January with an opening reception held on January 17, 2013 for the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk.

Phillips Goodey’s inspiration for this new body of work stems from unusual vintage trick photography and cultures with strong and unique characteristics such as gypsies and carnival people.
“The strong character cultures tend to have certain stereotypes about them that seem to be unexplainable,” notes Goodey.
Phillips Goodey is a recent Master of Fine Arts graduate from Washington State University, where she used photography and figurative clay sculptures to explore the stage between youthful imagination and losing one's innocence. She was trained in photography at the Art Institute of Seattle where she earned her Bachelor in Fine Art.

Stunningly Strange Gallery is located at 407 Main Street Edmonds WA. Store hours are 10am-‐6pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
