Shorewood takes a 4-1 Western Conference 3A record (9-3 overall) into the game with Oak Harbor (1-3 Wesco 3A, 4-7) at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Shorewood High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40 and “C” teams playing at 3:45.
The Thunderbirds are tied for the Wesco 3A South lead with Glacier Peak (4-1, 9-3).
In the victory over Everett, the Thunderbirds trailed 13-8 after the first quarter and 26-25 at halftime before roaring to a 43-34 lead after three quarters and expanding the final margin to 59-49. Masha Shtikel scored 32 of Shorewood's 59 points. Teammate Lily Gustafson added 10.
The Everett team was depleted by the suspension of five varsity players for violation of the school drug and alcohol policy at a party that involved players from both the Seagull boys' and girls' teams.
The Shorewood junior varsity team defeated Everett, 29-12.
