Shorewood boys return to Wesco 3A play after tournament sweep

The Shorewood boys’ basketball team returns to Western Conference 3A play after an 81-43 victory over host Archbishop Murphy Saturday, Dec. 29, gave the Thunderbirds a sweep of the three-day tournament at the Mill Creek school.

Shorewood takes a 3-1 Western Conference 3A record (8-3 overall) and a five-game winning streak into a home game with Everett Friday at 7:15 p.m., with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40 and “C” teams playing at 3:45.

In Shorewood’s victory over Archbishop Murphy, the T-birds led 16-10 after the first quarter, 43-24 at halftime and 62-32 after three quarters before extending the final score to 81-43. Josh Hawkinson led Shorewood with 22 points; teammate Taylor Freeman scored 16; and Zane Hopen added 12.
