Shorewood girls to finish pre-Christmas basketball schedule with Thursday non-league home game against Highline after taking first Wesco 3A loss Tuesday at Glacier Peak

The Shorewood girls' basketball team finishes the pre-holiday-break part of its schedule with a non-league home game against Highline after taking its first Wesco 3A loss Tuesday at Glacier Peak.

The Thunderbirds and Highline meet at 7:15pm Thursday at Shorewood High School, with junior varsity teams from the two schools playing at 5:40pm.

The Shorewood junior varsity has a home game with Edmonds-Woodway Saturday at 3:15pm, with "C" teams from the two schools meeting at 1:30pm.

Shorewood's 40-36 loss at Glacier Peak dropped the Thunderbirds to 3-1 in Western Conference 3A play (5-2 overall) and gave Glacier Peak a 2-1 Wesco 3A record (4-3 overall).

Shorewood trailed Glacier Peak, 13-5 after the first quarter, 21-13 a halftime and 36-25 after three quarters before an 11-4 run in the final period fell short. Masha Shtikel led the T-birds with 20 points, including all of the Thunderbirds’ fourth-quarter points.

The Shorewood junior varsity lost to Glacier Peak 58-28. The “C: team lost 57-6.

Through seven games, Shtikel has scored 155 points for an average of 22.1 points per game.
